DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) consists of two biopolymer strands, coiled around each other to form a double helix. These two DNA strands are called polynucleotides since they are composed of several monomer proteins. Each nucleotide is made up of nitrogen-containing cytosine (C), guanine (G), adenine (A), or thymine (T), one deoxyribose sugar molecule, and a phosphate group. The nucleotides are joined to one another in a chain by covalent hydrogen bonds between the sugar of one nucleotide and the phosphate of the next, resulting in an alternating sugar-phosphate backbone, according to base-pairing rules. The total amount of DNA in all living organisms is estimated to weigh 50 billion tons (Wikipedia). That's a lot of DNA, especially as protein molecules are microscopic and thus invisible to the naked eye.

The DNA backbone is resistant to cleavage, unless there is a mutation, and both pieces of the double-stranded structure store the same biological information. When a cell divides, it RNA transcription must replicate the DNA in its genome so that the two daughter cells are afforded an exact copy of the genetic information stored in the parent cells. The double-stranded structure of DNA provides a simple mechanism for DNA replication. The two strands are separated and then each strand's complementary DNA sequence is recreated by an enzyme called DNA polymerase. A large part of DNA (almost 99% in humans) is non-coding, meaning that these sections do not serve as patterns for protein sequences, but rather perform little-known functions. Beyond major requirements within the molecular biology department, you may consider Langston University lab safety as a complementary elective to your primary course of study.

The Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) accredits programs in radiography. To become licensed, technologists must graduate from an accredited program, and pass a certifying exam. Certifications for radiologic technologists are available from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Certifications for MRI technologists are available from the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT). The average salary for radiation therapists was $70,220 in May 2017, as reported by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. Further, job openings for radiation therapists are projected to grow 14% over the next decade, much faster than the average for all occupations. ACT test questions are geared towards advanced high school math courses, while the SAT test is a better choice for students with an excellent vocabulary and English skills in general. Other college admissions information sources, like Worcester State College Forbes ranking 2017, promote the use of standardized tests in admissions decisions because there are substantial differences in course requirements, high school GPA, and grade curve difficulty among US schools. You can also explore Simpson College AP test dates, in order to further target your academic interests.

The NCLEX, or National Council Licensure Examination, is a required nursing certificate exam for nurse licensing. To ensure uniform standards in the medical profession, each state board of nursing requires recent program graduates to pass either the NCLEX-PN for licensed vocational (LVN) or practical nurses(LPN), or the NCLEX-RN for registered nurses (RN). Care practices make up 30% of all NCLEX questions, covering safety concerns and patient care, particularly in the administration of medication. Another large section of the nursing exam is health promotion, which comprises 15% of the NCLEX.

High school grades are the most important factor in gaining admission to the college of your choice, along with letters of recommendation. According to data on Mount San Antonio College baccalaureate degrees pages, an ideal academic record consists of a high GPA in courses of progressive difficulty. About half of colleges use placement tests and a waiting list, and many community colleges have agreements with bachelor programs at four-year universities. Financial Aid Information

Government scholarship programs and Pell grants only account for a third of total financial aid packages. Student loans, work-study earnings, and personal savings make up the remaining two-thirds. Please make use of student aid calculators online, to see if you qualify for need-based financial aid or a fee waiver. In fact, millions of students that would have qualified for some financial aid were late in submitting required scholarship application forms. Please note that the official FAFSA website is fafsa.ed.gov and is free to use. Merit-based aid is a package of scholarships and grants awarded to students with special talents.

According to the US Department of Education, nearly 45 million Americans incurred student debt during their college career. Most private loan programs are hinged to a financial index, such as the BBA LIBOR Rate, plus an overhead charge. Financial aid may be administered via Midlands Technical College ROTC scholarship or through academic departments. Alternatively, student credit cards may seem like a good short-term solution, but the interest rates are high, and credit cards often carry an annual fee. FastWeb.com is one of the leading scholarship services online. Local chapters of professional societies may offer academic scholarships to enable gifted students to study in their state.
